MCA Youth Committee
APPLICATIONS CLOSE 19 DECEMBER 2012
The MCA Youth Committee is an opportunity for young people aged 13–17 years to play an instrumental part in the development of events, workshops, and other activities for young people at the MCA. The Youth Committee works with the MCA’s Young Creatives Coordinator to brainstorm and develop activities for the MCA’s Young Creatives program, and plays a key role in the coordination of the event generationext – a free festival-style event for young people aged 12–18 years that happens six times each year.
There are many benefits to being a Youth Committee member, including professional and personal development opportunities, discounts at the MCA, and access to mentoring by artists and MCA staff.
Those interested in applying for the 2013 MCA Youth Committee should make sure they have read the Essential Information for Applicants, and completed the Application Form. Enquiries can be directed to the Young Creatives Coordinator.
MCA YOUNG GUIDES
The MCA Young Guides team are a range of people aged 14-19 who gain behind-the-scenes insight into exhibitions, artists’ practice and artworks by speaking with Curators, artists and other MCA staff, and accessing MCA Library resources.
They receive training in public speaking, physical presentation, Visitor Services, and artwork safety, and share their knowledge and skills with a wide range of MCA audiences by guiding regular tours exhibitions. Their guided tours offer a unique fresh perspective and have been enjoyed and highly commended by hundreds of MCA visitors.
Young Guides deliver Teen-Guided Tours, fortnightly at 11am. Training is held three times each year, and throughout each month depending on Young Guides’ individual needs.
