Making Art Public
– Behind-the-scenes of large-scale art installation
Using Anish Kapoor’s Sky Mirror as a starting point for discussion, discover the logistical and engineering challenges and feats behind installing work in public places. Hear from Tony Mighell, MCA Exhibition Services Manager along with Eamonn Madden, Group Managing Director and Jeremy Sparks, Director Partridge Events, from Partridge Engineers, specialists in the installation of public artworks such as those seen in Art and About’s Live Lanes project.
Eamonn Madden, Managing Director of the Partridge Group has had 25 years varied experience as a structural engineer, designing the full range of structural types using all types of materials and methodologies. He has designed many art installations, temporary stages and Ceremonies. He is interested in a rational analysis of risk engineering and how it relates to temporary structures such as stages, film sets and public art works. He is a board member of the Association of Consulting Structural Engineers.
